Tales of a #BossBabe: May 10, 2018

For those of you that have been following along on my journey, you know that my 2018 Monster Energy Supercross season came to a screeching halt as a member of the media after I attempted to address some inconsistencies in how the promoter's photographer guidelines were being applied. Spoiler alert: the organization was not thrilled that I pointed out that their guidelines that "applied to everyone" seemed to only actually apply to me, their only female member of the media who was there for the entire season. I approached the organization about my concerns in a professional manner, but rather than addressing said concerns, they opted to "part ways".

If you know me, you know that I am one of those people who not only respects rules and guidelines, but I thrive in that sort of structured environment - that is, if the rules and guidelines are fair across the board. In this instance, however, I am the pioneer into an arena that is entirely male-dominated, and has been for more than 45+ years. I am honored to be the trailblazer, but I am also not afraid to be a little outspoken (yet still professional) when I happen across an injustice - particularly one related to rules and guidelines that the fellas in the "good ol' boys club" seem to be exempt from. I made the choice to stick up for my values and hopefully forge a better path for the women in the sport who come after me.

As my Monster Energy Supercross chapter came to an abrupt and unfortunate close, it means I have had to refocus my efforts for my business as well as seek out other opportunities for employment. I am very excited for what this next adventure holds and am open to any of the opportunities that I know will fall into my path. Although life may throw us plenty of unexpected curves, if we are open-minded and handle these challenges with a positive attitude and grateful heart, the Universe is sure to reward us with the next right step in our journey.

I created this website as a way to not only showcase my past accomplishments, current goals, and future endeavors, but to also be vulnerable as I enter the unknown and embark upon a brand new adventure. Freestyle Photocross is not going away, but I am going to take the time to reevaluate my mission and goals I have for the brand and well as refocus on the things that matter most. I hope that sharing my story will inspire you to go after what you want in life. No matter what the next chapter holds, I know that in every step I will remain dedicated to living life passionately and intentionally as a curator of #ForeverMemories.
